Mia Photo Fair 2018 - Aurélie Mathigot exhibition - Milan
Flux Laboratory presents from 9th to 12th of March, in Mia Photo Fair Milan, the exhibition of photographer and plastic artist, Aurélie Mathigot in the space of The Mall, Piazza Lina Bo Bardi, 1,20124 in Milan.
An auction of one of Aurélie's canvases will be organised by Flux Laboratory during the opening of the photo fair on March 9th; the proceeds of the auction will go to the foundation Rava, which supports children in need in Italy and all over the world.
Aurélie’s photos are printed on canvas and embroidered in certain places. In parallel to this two-dimensional work, she creates sculptures in rope, wool and cotton using the crochet technique and combining other materials taken from the everyday’s life as wood, wax and ceramics.
Between these two practices, her work is built around the representation of an illusion of reality: giving to these objects a new appearance, conceiving a textile reality of what surrounds us. Bringing those who look at the realization of the artwork.
The art of weaving therefore offers something more than just the objective activity of weave a plot, it invents a relationship.
In Aurélie's art pieces there is a double involvement, the one of the image taken and the other one of the image associated with the materials that cover it and giving it a new function and a new identity.
