IN RESIDENCY: JULIE SEMOROZ
Following her performance WE NEED SPACE in coproduction with the the Grütli production and diffusion center for the Living Arts and in partnership with the Archipel Festival in March-April 2019, Julie Semoroz was selected for the Swiss performance award which will take place on September 21st, 2019 at the Aargauer Kunsthaus. On this occasion, the artist will present part of the performance, which she will be reworking and rehearsing at Flux Laboratory from September 11th to 19th, 2019.
WE NEED SPACE is about the inner, temporal and spatial space of everyday life; the creation questions the relationship of the individual and his bodily practices to mechanical and organic time and challenges our consumerist post-industrial society and new technologies. In a world with no notion of opposition anymore, in which humans no longer have a real political vision, slowing down and pondering is an act of resistance. Without striving to give clear-cut answers, the piece offers space for emotional and intellectual freedom. The opportunity to have a moment of reflection. To develop a ritual.
Julie Semoroz is a sound artist who sculpts sound using technology or voice. She offers a sound experience stemming from field recordings of her travels, an inner peregrination pervaded by shadowy fields.
